Job summary

Target is seeking a Senior Merchandise Planner in Minneapolis to own financial forecasting and open-to-buy decisions. You will partner with Merchandising and Supply Chain to link financial strategy with assortment planning and vendor communications.

You will lead in-season decision support, demand forecasting, and scenario planning, guiding category investments and end-of-season management with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree or equivalent experience.
• 6-10 years of relevant experience.
• 6+ years of Merchandising experience.
• Strong strategic, financial, and analytical skills; can easily translate data from an array of sources into insights and recommendations.
• Strong collaboration skills to partner with cross-functional teams.
• Flexible, resilient and comfortable working in “grey areas” that are constantly changing.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-season decision support and collaborate on assortment planning.
• Recommend localization and channel strategies including cluster types and profiles.
• Lead demand forecasting and open-to-buy process for category investments.
• Validate financial viability of assortments and make investment decisions.
• Conduct root cause analysis for supply vs. demand forecast variations and inform decisions to vendors.
• Perform scenario planning and build unit plans.
• Lead initial set planning and operationalization to optimize assortments.
• Interpret forecast results and conduct what-if analyses to guide recommendations.
• Drive promo planning accuracy and risk analysis with Pricing & Promotion teams.
• Analyze item lifecycles and guide end-of-season management.
