Job summary

McFarland Construction is hiring a Senior MEP Engineer for commercial design-build projects in Indianapolis, IN. This role leads planning, design coordination, and oversight of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems across construction projects.

The engineer will collaborate with design teams, contractors, and field staff to ensure compliant, high-quality installations, and will drive issue resolution and successful project delivery throughout the lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering field.
• 5 years of experience in MEP engineering, preferably in construction.
• Proficient in reading technical drawings and using AutoCAD, Revit or BIM platforms.
• OSHA 30 certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review and coordinate MEP designs and shop drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance with project specifications and building codes.
• Support pre-construction efforts including scope development, value engineering and constructability reviews.
• Coordinate installation and integration of MEP systems with architectural and structural elements.
• Conduct site inspections to verify quality of workmanship and compliance with drawings and standards.
• Identify and resolve MEP conflicts or issues in the field through collaboration with stakeholders.
• Monitor and report on progress of MEP systems installation and commissioning activities.
• Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting throughout the construction lifecycle.
• Assist in review of RFIs, submittals, and change orders related to MEP systems.
• Ensure safety and code compliance in all MEP installations.
