Job summary

Building Bridges Across the River seeks a hands‑on MEP Building Engineer to operate, maintain, and repair the campus’ mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. This role collaborates with the Facilities Manager to ensure safety, efficiency, and reliable performance across THEARC’s 233,000 square foot complex.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certification in HVAC, Electrical Systems, Building Maintenance, or related field.
• 5-7 years of hands‑on MEP maintenance in commercial or institutional facilities.
• Extensive knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and BAS systems.
• Ability to diagnose complex MEP failures using manuals and diagnostic tools.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools and test instruments.
• Knowledge of NEC, plumbing, and mechanical codes; compliant work.
• Budgeting and cost control experience; inventory management.
• Strong independence, communication, CMMS, and MS Office skills.
• Valid driver’s license; emergency response capability; weekend work; physical strength.

Responsibilities

• Operate, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair HVAC, electrical, and plumbing across the 233k sq ft campus.
• Inspect, test, and perform preventive maintenance on MEP systems.
• Diagnose and repair complex MEP failures to minimize downtime.
• Perform electrical work including circuit repairs and lighting maintenance.
• Execute plumbing repairs and backflow testing.
• Maintain BAS and energy management systems for efficiency.
• Respond to emergencies and restore operations.
• Maintain detailed logs and preventive maintenance schedules.
