Job summary

Golden 1 Credit Union is seeking a Member Service Specialist III in Goleta, California. The role delivers the highest level of service, handles monetary transactions, and proactively identifies opportunities to assist members with Golden 1 products and services.

You will balance daily transactions, maintain records, and mentor MSSI/II staff while engaging with members to ensure financial solutions align with their goals.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum two years of prior banking or customer service experience; one year as MSS II or teller preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication, empathy, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Processes and audits financial transactions including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, payments and general ledger entries while maintaining a cash drawer.
• Provides Golden 1 services to member, including cashier’s checks, money orders, savings bonds, wire transfers and transactions.
• Assesses members needs while processing transactions.
• Identifies opportunities to help members with Golden 1 products or services and documents in EnAct.
• Identifies and reports fraudulent activity to management and Financial Investigations, per procedures.
• Assists in operation of ATM and Teller Cash Dispenser Units.
• May lead open/close in MSSI/MSSII absence.
• Verifies signatures and maintains confidentiality of information.
• Opens deposit and specialty accounts (e.g., Roth IRA) and identifies financial service needs.
• Mentors MSSIs and MSSIIs and develops leadership skills.
• Engages in consultative dialogue to identify current and future financial needs.
• Enrolls members in channels (online, mobile).
• Refer members' home lending/investment needs to partners via EnAct referrals.
• Processes consumer loan applications and loan fulfillment; approves based on limits.
• Notarizes member documents and maintains compliance with state/federal laws.
