Job summary

The University of Rochester seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist to support the laboratory section with advanced testing, QA development, and new procedure implementation. You will perform tests with limited supervision and interpret complex results, while maintaining detailed documentation and SOPs.

The role requires strong adherence to lab policies, clear communication with clients, and readiness to work at UR Labs locations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field required.
Master's degree in related field preferred with experience.
PhD in related field with experience may substitute.

Responsibilities

Provide higher level support for the laboratory section, including testing, QA development, and SOP implementation.
Perform testing with minimal supervision and interpret complex results.
Maintain meticulous notes on methods, data, and conclusions.
Be proficient in test principles and apply them to case-specific scenarios.
Develop and maintain SOPs and policies in collaboration with leadership.
Perform duties of Medical Technologist II and adhere to hospital policies.
Communicate clearly with internal and external clients.
Work at the UR Labs location/site.
Assist in developing new methods and procedures as needed.
Train technologists on new methods/instruments and ensure compliance.
Maintain documentation for technical, IT, quality, and safety information.
