Job summary

Piedmont Healthcare seeks a Lead Medical Physicist for the Piedmont Columbus Midtown John B. Amos Cancer Center to oversee physics services for therapeutic radiation and QA. You will mentor staff, provide clinical leadership, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Requirements include a MS in Medical Physics, 5 years of clinical experience in a radiation therapy department, and ABR Therapeutic Radiation Physics board certification, with active state licensure eligibility.

Qualifications

• MS in Medical Physics or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of clinical medical physics experience in a radiation therapy department.
• Board Certification by the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Radiation Physics; ABR/MOC participation.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and therapists to provide technical expertise for treatment programs including external beam, brachytherapy, radiosurgery, and radiopharmaceuticals.
• Perform QA checks on all equipment (linear accelerators, CT scanners, treatment planning systems, brachytherapy sources) per AAPM and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain documentation of commissioning, acceptance, and QA activities for review.
• Maintain expertise in treatment planning and delivery hardware/software; perform QA checks and peer reviews of treatment plans.
• Perform physics chart checks during patient care; advise on policy updates; oversee technical aspects of treatment delivery.
• Provide staff in-services and radiation safety education; participate in instruction of residents and students.
• Participate in medical physics and radiation oncology initiatives; attend meetings and contribute to program growth.
