Job summary

UT Health San Antonio is seeking a Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist (Specialty Coagulation, 5x8s) to independently perform clinical tests and provide data used in patient diagnosis and treatment. The role includes supervising entry-level staff, reviewing QC data, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

You will also manage supply needs, assist in policy revisions, and help prepare for inspections by accrediting bodies. Strong communication and LIS proficiency are essential.

Qualifications

• Advanced, technical skills for performing and analyzing clinical tests.
• Knowledge of general laboratory safety, quality control, and terminology.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a Laboratory Information System.

Responsibilities

• Assists in daily laboratory operations and troubleshoots complex issues.
• Reviews and documents quality control data and takes corrective action.
• Provides supervision to entry-level staff and manages the laboratory in the Chief Technologist's absence.
• Secures media and supplies for testing and research studies, and manages supply requests.
• Assists in policy revisions and in preparation for laboratory inspections by regulatory agencies.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
