The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB Health) in Angleton, Texas seeks a Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist to lead Laboratory Services. You will supervise staff, oversee daily operations, and ensure timely, accurate testing with adherence to regulatory standards.

This role requires a Bachelor's in CLS or Basic Science with 2 years' related experience, technologist-level certification (ASCP/AMT/ABHI), and CLIA high-complexity qualification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or Basic Science with two years related experience.
• Technologist level certification from ASCP, AMT, ABHI or equivalent.
• Qualifies as Testing Personnel for high complexity testing under CLIA.
• Generalist experience preferred.

Responsabilités

• Recruitment, hiring, payroll, orientation, training, supervision, evaluation, competency assessment, coaching, disciplinary action and/or termination process of divisional employees.
• Supervises the work of laboratory personnel in routine and specialized procedures, planning work, evaluating output, and solving technical issues.
• Acts as lead worker, oversees daily operations including scheduling work assignments.
• Assists leadership in developing protocols and procedures and reviews existing ones.
• Ensures appropriate staffing for efficient operation of the laboratory division.
• Reviews and evaluates accuracy of lab data and reports patient results with documentation.
• Assists with Quality Management activities including evaluating quality of results, quality control, equipment maintenance, proficiency testing, and documentation.
• Assists in evaluating new tests or instruments.
• Maintains inventory of reagents and supplies, monitors expenditures, and contributes to budgeting.
• Communicates pertinent information to staff, management, medical directors, and other divisions.
• Serves as liaison between departmental staff, management, and supervisory staff.
• Performs laboratory testing as required per division.
• Instructs and trains students.
• Available to cover different shifts to guarantee patient care.
• Maintains compliance with regulatory accreditation standards.
