Job summary

University Health is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist in San Antonio to perform testing and analysis on clinical specimens. You will evaluate results to assist physicians in diagnosis and treatment, and promptly address unusual findings to ensure accuracy and validity of results.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related scientific field, plus certification by ASCP, AMT, or HEW. New grads must obtain certification within six months of hire.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or an appropriate biological/chemical/medical science from an accredited college or university.
• Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP), American Medical Technologist (AMT), or United States Department of Health, Education and Welfare (HEW). New Graduates or candidates with no prior experience must obtain a certification in clinical laboratory sciences or laboratory specialty within the first six (6) months from date of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs procedures for testing or analysis on specimens submitted to the laboratory.
• Evaluates test results for accuracy and submits results for the purpose of aiding the physician in diagnostic and therapeutic treatment of patients.
• Recognizes unusual results and/or abnormalities and takes prompt and appropriate action to assure the accuracy and validity of test result

Education
