Job summary

Elevance Health is seeking a Medical Group Underwriter Senior in a hybrid work model with in-office 1–2 days per week. The role focuses on determining acceptability of insurance risks and setting premium rates for large, complex renewal and prospect employer groups in line with underwriting guidelines and authority limits.

The position requires a BA/BS in a related field with at least 4 years of underwriting experience, and strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.

Qualifications

• Requires a BA/BS in a related field and 4+ years of related underwriting experience.
• Experience with renewal rates and risk assessment for large groups.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to coordinate with multiple departments.

Responsibilities

• Determines acceptability of insurance risks and appropriate premium rates.
• Calculates renewal rates based on group experience, location, size, and demographics.
• Prepares annual settlements, ERISA reports, rate projections, or benefit changes.
• Communicates with sales, administration and claims to assess impact of rating and changes.
• Collaborates with other departments to ensure accuracy of account reporting.
