Job summary

Iambic Therapeutics in San Diego seeks a Senior or Executive Medical Director to lead clinical development for our early-stage oncology portfolio, owning strategy from IND-enabling activities through first-in-human and early efficacy studies. You will partner with discovery, translational science, regulatory, and AI/ML teams to translate candidates into well-designed clinical programs.

The role requires MD or DO (board-ready preferred), 5–10+ years in biotech/pharma oncology, and hands-on

Qualifications

• MD/DO with oncology board eligibility/preference; PharmD considered
• 5–10+ years in biotech/pharma oncology
• Direct IND submissions experience
• Direct design/run of Phase 1/early-phase oncology trials
• Strong understanding of GCP, ICH guidelines, and global oncology regulations

Responsibilities

• Lead clinical development strategy from IND through Phase 1 and early proof-of-concept.
• Author and drive IND submissions, including protocols, investigator's brochures, and regulatory documents; support health authority interactions.
• Design first-in-human and early-phase oncology trials with dose-escalation and biomarker plans.
• Provide ongoing medical monitoring and safety oversight for active trials with data review and dose decisions.
• Collaborate with translational science and AI/ML teams to define patient selection strategies and endpoints.
• Engage key opinion leaders, investigators, and study sites; represent programs to governance and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Regulatory, CMC, Clinical Operations, Biostatistics, and Program Management to stay on strategy and timeline.
• Contribute to portfolio-level decisions and business development due diligence as needed
