Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalency) + 6 years directly related work experience, or Master’s degree (or equivalency) + 4 years.
• Demonstrated proficiency in medical device design, prototyping, and development.
• Strong proficiency with CAD software and prototyping tools.
• Advanced analytical and problem solving skills with ability to conduct feasibility studies and failure analysis.
• Knowledge of medical device regulations, standards, and best practices.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with clinicians, innovators, and cross-functional teams.
• Passion for healthcare innovation through rigorous engineering.
• Ability to conduct complex, important work under minimal supervision with wide latitude for independent judgment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and evaluate a wide range of medical devices and equipment.
• Create models, prototypes, and technical drawings using CAD and other drafting tools.
• Conduct testing, feasibility, and failure analyses to ensure devices perform as designed.
• Determine design specifications and perform adjustments, calibrations, and iterative improvements.
• Create and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Manage project schedules and budgets for development projects as needed.
• Perform clinical and preclinical assessments of devices as needed.
• Support other departmental programs and initiatives.
