The University of Utah's Center for Medical Innovation seeks a highly skilled Medical Device Engineer to design, prototype, and evaluate innovative devices. This Level 3 role offers independence to turn clinical needs into functional, market-ready solutions within our venture studio environment.

You will leverage advanced engineering and health sciences knowledge to deliver complex devices while adhering to regulatory standards, budgets, and timelines.

Competenze

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 6 years of related work experience, or Master’s degree with 4 years and related experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency in medical device design, prototyping, and development.
• Strong proficiency with CAD software and prototyping tools.
• Knowledge of medical device regulations, standards, and best practices.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with clinicians and cross‑functional teams.

Mansioni

• Design, develop, and evaluate a wide range of medical devices and equipment including braces, prostheses, pumps, imaging devices, implants, and other technologies.
• Create detailed models, prototypes, and technical drawings using CAD and drafting tools.
• Conduct product testing, feasibility assessments, and failure analysis.
• Determine design specifications and perform adjustments, calibrations, and iterative improvements.
• Create and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Manage project schedules and budgets for assigned development projects.
• Perform clinical and preclinical assessments of devices as needed.
• Support other departmental programs and initiatives as needed.
