Job summary

RCCS is seeking a Senior Coding Specialist with a strong multispecialty background in surgery, Interventional Radiology and E/M to abstract and code from medical records. You will assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes, review documentation, and ensure medical necessity while using MS Office tools and coding software.

The role emphasizes accuracy (95% target) and collaboration with staff and providers, along with maintaining productive time records and staying current with coding guidelines.

Qualifications

• Minimum four years of professional fee coding experience.
• Ability to code multiple specialties as SME with sustained accuracy.
• Certified coder through AAPC or AHIMA.
• Knowledge of ICD, CPT, HCPCS, Anatomy and Medical Necessity.
• Excellent writing and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes with modifiers for services.
• Research coding, compliance, documentation and reimbursement.
• Review medical records to determine appropriate codes.
• Ensure codes meet local and national medical necessity guidelines.
• Provide feedback and documentation improvements.
• Maintain records of time spent.
• Identify coding trends and communicate with leadership.
• Resolve coding edits and denials.
• Assist with client updates and education.
