Job summary

OneOncology is seeking a Sr. Manager, Medical Coding to lead the Coding COE and ensure timely charge capture across practice pods. You will supervise coding teams, set standards, and collaborate with compliance, providers, and leadership to optimize documentation and workflows.

The role requires a coding certification, a Bachelor’s degree, and a minimum of six years of coding experience with at least five years in supervision. Travel as needed is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; equivalent experience considered.
• Minimum 6 years of coding experience preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience required.
• Knowledge of Medical Oncology/Radiation/Surgery coding preferred.
• Willingness to travel when necessary.
• Attendance is an essential job function.
• Familiarity with CPT, ICD-9, HCPCS coding.
• Knowledge of government programs (Medicare/Medicaid).
• Strong anatomy and medical terminology knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the workload of the COE coding pods to meet monthly goals.
• Review KPIs and benchmarks; adjust productivity metrics as needed.
• Serve as Coding SME to production coders and team members.
• Collaborate with RCM leadership on issues affecting the practice.
• Engage with executive leadership on documentation and charge capture deficits.
• Design workflows for efficient, accurate coding processes.
• Monitor processes and identify improvement opportunities.
• Provide training and escalation support for coding queries.
• Assist with templates, edits, and software for charge capture and scrubbing.
• Support month-end close and reporting; develop coding policies.
• Directly supervise managers and team leads within COE pods.
• Lead staff meetings to share ideas and resolve issues.
