Job summary

St. Luke’s Hospital is seeking a Coding Specialist III to abstract clinical data from inpatient records and assign ICD-9-CM and HCPCS codes in line with regulatory mandates.

You will input abstracted information into the hospital’s software and work closely with the healthcare team to support accurate reimbursement and data collection. Education through licensure requirements apply; RHIA, RHIT, or CCS certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• RHIA, RHIT, or CCS certification preferred or required depending on role.
• Strong understanding of coding guidelines and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Abstract clinical data from inpatient records to assign ICD-9-CM and HCPCS codes.
• Enter abstracts into hospital abstracting software accurately.
• Promote teamwork with all members of the healthcare team and ensure compliance with regulatory mandates.
