Job summary

St. Luke's University Health Network is seeking an experienced medical coder to code and abstract professional fee hospital services performed by physicians from medical records, following ICD-9/ICD-10, CPT-4, HCPCS II and CMS guidelines.

You will use the 3M Encoder to validate RVUs and CPT-4 unbundling, maintain a 95% coding accuracy, and participate in education sessions for clinical staff on coding and documentation.

Qualifications

• RHIA, RHIT, CPC or CCS-P certification required.
• 1–3 years CPT/HCPCS physician coding experience.
• Experience with computerized patient records and coding systems.

Responsibilities

• Code and abstract professional fee hospital services performed by St. Luke’s physicians from medical records according to ICD-9/ICD-10, CPT-4, HCPCS II, and CMS guidelines.
• Utilize 3M Encoder for validation of RVUs and CPT-4 procedure unbundling.
• Maintain a 95% coding accuracy rate as measured through quality reviews.
• Maintain daily productivity as outlined.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines as they relate to physician services for hospital inpatient, observation, consultant, surgical, critical care, and E & M services.
• Perform data entry of abstracted physician information into specialty-specific databases.
• Conduct educational sessions to the medical staff for coding and documentation compliance.
