Job summary

The Christ Hospital Health Network is seeking a clinical coding specialist to translate provider documentation into ICD and CPT codes for accurate billing and compliant reporting.

The role demands expertise in HCPCS, ICD-10, CPT, and E/M coding across multiple specialties, with strong regulatory knowledge and communication skills for education and collaboration with physicians and coders.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated in depth knowledge of HCPCS, ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
• Ability to accurately code diagnosis, diagnostic and surgical procedures in multiple specialties with depth in E/M coding.
• Strong knowledge of legal, regulatory and policy compliance issues related to medical coding and documentation.
• Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills with physicians and groups.
• Research skills including knowledge of automated analysis tools and online resources to resolve complex coding issues.
• Ability to work effectively in a team, sharing audit findings, risk areas, and compliance issues.
• Maintains confidentiality and protects sensitive data at all times.

Responsibilities

• Interpret clinical documentation to ensure diagnoses and procedures are accurately coded for reimbursement.
• Translate provider documentation into ICD and CPT codes for billing, reporting, and regulatory compliance.
• Review reports and extract data to apply appropriate codes across specialties, including E/M considerations.
• Educate providers on CMS regulations, coding, billing, and documentation guidelines.
• Collaborate with physicians and coders to resolve discrepancies and improve workflow.
• Monitor denial trends and ensure coding practices align with payor requirements.
• Maintain knowledge of CPT, HCPCS and ICD-10-CM coding updates.
