Job summary

Munson Healthcare is seeking an outpatient coder to accurately code and abstract outpatient medical records, including complex procedures, in a timely manner. You will assign ICD-10-CM diagnoses and CPT-4 codes per established guidelines and AHIMA ethics, while maintaining an organized system for reference material.

The role emphasizes ongoing education and skill maintenance through internal development activities and departmental guidelines to ensure high-quality coding compliance.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information is required.
• CCS, RHIT, RHIA or CCS certification is required.
• Two years’ experience coding with ICD10-CM and CPT-4 (Outpatient Senior Coder).

Responsibilities

• Accurately codes and abstracts outpatient medical records per work assignment and productivity standards.
• Assigns ICD10-CM diagnosis and CPT-4 procedure codes per guidelines.
• Maintains organized reference materials and participates in educational activities to maintain coding skills.
