University of Maryland Medical System Corporation is seeking a Medical Assistant I to work under direct supervision in delivering patient care and utilizing EMR documentation. The role supports providers and nursing staff and participates in daily clinic operations and patient flow.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Current BLS certification.
• Special circumstances to consider an exception may include: 1 year of supervised work experience in a medical assisting field within the last 3 years; or 2 years within the last 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients in courteous, friendly, respectful and professional manner.
• Follows communication protocols and pursues service recovery when needed.
• Gathers and documents brief history and chief complaint in the medical record and EMR.
• Prepares patient for examination and records vital signs and risk screenings.
• Performs routine clinical testing and assists with procedures as directed.
• Performs high-level disinfection of equipment and environment.
• Stocks and restocks supplies and maintains clinical areas.
• Ensures equipment has current engineering stickers and is ready for use.
• Participates in clinic huddles and quality improvement efforts.
• Provides care appropriate to patient populations and supports population health needs.
