Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System Corporation is seeking a Medical Assistant I to support on-site clinical teams. You will assist in patient care under supervision, document in the EMR, and support front-desk tasks as needed.

You will collaborate with providers and nursing staff to ensure smooth patient flow. Responsibilities include vital signs, minor testing, and patient education, with opportunities to participate in vaccination programs and clinic huddles.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Current BLS certification.
• Medical Assistant certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients in courteous, friendly, respectful and professional manner.
• Gathers and documents brief history and chief complaint in the medical record; completes patient questionnaires and health screenings in the EMR.
• Performs vital signs (BP, pulse, temp) and risk screening; reports out of range values to the provider.
• Performs routine clinical testing (blood/urine samples, vision/hearing tests, spirometry, EKG, PoCT) and follows protocols as needed.
• Provides pre-printed patient education materials as directed by the provider.
• Maintains supplies and ensures equipment has current stickers and is ready for use.
• Assists in vaccination programs and administers injections under supervision.
