Job summary

Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in California seeks a Medical Assistant III to support patient access and care flow in a busy clinical setting. You will collaborate with physicians and staff, perform non-clinical tasks, and help maintain a professional environment.

Responsibilities include scheduling, chart preparation, vital signs, rooming patients, assisting with procedures, handling pre-authorization, and communicating timelines to patients. Travel to multiple sites may be required.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED.
• Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program or equivalent medical back-office experience.
• Ability to anticipate provider needs/critical thinking skills that come from experience.

Responsibilities

• Scheduling patients which can include follow up office visits, imaging and lab work
• Preparation of appropriate chart elements
• Checking vital signs
• Rooming patients
• Assisting with procedures
• The non-clinical responsibilities of this position would also include pre-authorization process and acting as a liaison between the providers and patient.
• The Medical Assistant will work collaboratively with staff to ensure all proper records are received and all appropriate testing is completed prior to appointment/surgery date.
• The Medical Assistant will provide updates to the staff and patients on timing and status for all the above tasks that could have an impact on the patient’s health and/or testing and treatment options.
• Ensures even patient flow and continuous communication within Hoag and referring physician offices.
• May be required to start at a different location throughout the workweek or travel to multiple sites.
