Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Senior System Engineer to design, develop, and enhance electro‑mechanical systems for Marine Propulsion Control (MPC) programs.

You will define requirements in partnership with product teams and cross‑functional engineering stakeholders to optimize product performance. The role emphasizes strong analytical thinking, requirements analysis, testing and troubleshooting of embedded control systems, with experience in vehicle communications (J1939 and Modbus).

Qualifications

• Bachelors in electrical or computer engineering; embedded systems experience preferred.
• Experience in requirements analysis and systems engineering for embedded control
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills; ability to convey complex concepts

Responsibilities

• Define program scope and control system requirements for MPC programs.
• Collaborate with PMO to develop project plans and milestones.
• Lead controls lab testing and resolve NPI controls issues.
• Review test plans and support validation activities.
• Provide software and systems troubleshooting support.
