Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking a Gas Engine System Engineer to design, integrate, and support gas engine subsystems within the engine architecture. Translate system requirements into detailed technical solutions and validate performance.

You will work with software, electronics, and mechanical teams, applying embedded systems knowledge, CAN/J1939, and diagnostics to improve reliability and customer value. This role is onsite five days a week with relocation support available.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science from an accredited program.
• Analytical thinking with ability to determine root causes and develop solutions.
• Knowledge of embedded systems and hardware/software integration.
• Experience with CAN/J1939 communications, diagnostics, and embedded controls.

Responsibilities

• Design advanced electrical control systems for gas engines.
• Integrate electrical, electronic, and mechanical subsystems.
• Develop software and procedures to improve system performance.
• Collaborate with scientists and product teams to address weaknesses.
