Firestorm is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineering Technician to own aircraft and test article builds from kit to flight readiness. You will set up mechanical test campaigns, establish field and flight test readiness, and mentor junior technicians on build quality and process improvements.

Responsibilities include authoring build instructions, diagnosing fit issues, and ensuring parts and wiring assemblies meet exacting specifications in a fast-paced lab and hangar environment in San Diego, CA.

Qualifications

• U.S. Person as defined by ITAR required.
• 5+ years of hands-on technician experience in aerospace or related field.
• Experience reading engineering drawings including GD&T callouts, wiring diagrams, schematics, and assembly procedures.
• Experience building complex assemblies independently, from kit to functional hardware.
• Wire harness fabrication experience and testing knowledge.

Responsabilités

• Own complete aircraft and major assembly builds from kit to final integration and functional check.
• Fabricate and verify complex wire harnesses and verify pin-out, continuity, and workmanship.
• Install and rig mechanisms, control surfaces, and propulsion systems with proper alignment and torque settings.
• Lead aircraft preparation and turnaround at flight and field test events; manage field readiness.
• Mentor junior technicians and contribute to shop practices and build documentation.
