Job summary

Firestorm is seeking an Associate Mechanical Test Technician in San Diego to join engineers and senior technicians in building, testing, and fielding unmanned aircraft. This entry-level, hands-on role emphasizes mechanical aptitude, precision, and adherence to procedures.

Training will be provided on real hardware and real programs. You will work under senior technicians and engineers, assembling airframes, installing hardware, and supporting test activities across aircraft builds, test

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
• U.S. Person as defined in ITAR regulations required.
• Hands-on mechanical experience from trade/technical school, military aviation maintenance, race/fabrication shop, or equivalent build experience.
• Ability to read and work from basic engineering drawings and written instructions.
• Proficiency with common hand tools and power tools.
• Careful and accurate documentation habits and discipline to follow written procedures exactly.

Responsibilities

• Assemble airframe structures, subassemblies, and installation hardware from drawings and instructions.
• Install mechanical hardware to specification and torque to spec.
• Support composite work including surface prep, trimming, bonding, and layup.
• Support propulsion and fuel system installation, plumbing, fittings, and leak checks.
• Operate shop equipment safely, including bandsaw, drill press, and sheet metal tools.
• Run 3D printers and post-process parts; record build data accurately.
• Record as-built configurations and escalate discrepancies promptly.
