Job summary

Moog Inc. in Torrance, CA is seeking a Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer to lead the development of flight control and weapons bay actuation systems for military aircraft.

You will serve as technical leader across programs, guiding system design from concept through qualification, and mentoring engineers while collaborating with customers. The role requires a strong background in mechanical/aerospace engineering, a track record of delivering complex electrohydraulic and electromechanical

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related STEM field
• 7+ years of engineering experience in aerospace/defense product development
• Experience across full product lifecycle: requirements, design, integration, testing, qualification
• Demonstrated success leading technical efforts or cross-functional teams
• Strong systems-thinking, analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills
• Ability to balance technical leadership with hands-on contributions
• Experience presenting to customers and senior stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership in development, integration, and verification of hydraulic and electromechanical actuation systems
• Influence system architecture and requirements throughout the product lifecycle
• Lead cross-functional engineering efforts across Moog teams and sites
• Develop and communicate system requirements, verification strategies, and qualification approaches
• Create and oversee requirements traceability, verification plans, and system qualification documentation
• Lead integration and test activities, perform root-cause investigations and issue resolution
• Mentor early-career engineers and foster technical excellence
• Author technical reports and analyses to support program objectives
• Travel 5–15% to Moog and customer locations, mainly in the United States
