Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. in San Francisco area seeks a Senior Mechanical Services Engineer to ensure reliable equipment performance, lead maintenance and calibration programs, and drive continuous improvement.

You will collaborate with Operations, Technology, Automation, and Quality to identify root causes and implement corrective actions while maintaining GMP compliance. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field and a minimum of two years' production/maintenance experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science or related field.
• Minimum of two years’ in a production and/or calibration and/or maintenance background.
• Strong planning, scheduling, and time management skills.
• Working knowledge of regulatory requirements in GMP manufacturing operations.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Experience with GMP compliant calibration and maintenance databases.
• Project management experience including change control and equipment qualification in sterile, bulk or finished pharmaceutical environments.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes calibration, maintenance, and equipment performance to identify trends and reduce reactive work.
• Identifies revisions to calibration and maintenance programs to ensure safety and GMP compliance.
• Collaborates with Operations, Technology, Automation, and Quality to determine root cause and implement corrective actions.
• Leads deviation investigations for instruments, equipment, and system failures with timely documentation.
• Drives process improvements, productivity initiatives, and corrective actions to improve uptime and reduce costs.
• Develops training material and acts as SME for system maintenance.
• Works with lean six sigma team to develop reliable manufacturing processes meeting cGMP.
• Maintains Safety programs and environmental compliance from a maintenance perspective.
• Collaborates with maintenance technicians and engineers to maintain all production equipment.
• Establishes reliability actions with Technical CoE Reliability Engineers and RBAM assessments.
• Ensures accurate BOMs and CMMS data; develops job plans for PMs and calibrations.
