Job summary

Peterson Sheet Metal, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Project Manager to lead commercial HVAC, plumbing, piping, and sheet metal projects at our Chanhassen location.

You will own projects from start to finish, coordinating people, materials, schedules, and client relationships to ensure successful outcomes. The role requires strong project management, leadership, and communication skills, with a focus on safety, quality, and profitability.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of commercial HVAC and/or plumbing, piping, or sheet metal construction.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, specifications, and other project documents.
• Strong project-management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong leadership skills and ability to work effectively with field and office teams.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of projects from preconstruction through closeout, coordinating people, materials, schedules, and finances.
• Develop budgets, schedules, values, and execution plans.
• Monitor costs, profitability, labor productivity, and schedules.
• Coordinate with General Superintendent to ensure adequate manpower.
• Manage subcontractors, vendors, equipment, and deliveries.
• Prepare submittals, RFIs, change orders, permits, and reviews.
• Interpret drawings and contract documents.
• Negotiate pricing for equipment and materials balancing cost and quality.
• Collaborate with detailing/BIM and other departments through project lifecycle.
• Visit jobsites to ensure compliance, progress, and safety.
• Mentor foremen and journeymen on standards and procedures.
