Job description

Senior Mechanical Project Manager - Facility Services/Small Projects Division
About The Job

Our Client is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Project Manager to lead a portfolio of multiple mechanical projects within our Facility Services/Small Projects division. This senior-level position requires an experienced mechanical professional who excels in a fast-paced environment and can successfully manage multiple projects at different stages simultaneously while maintaining strong control of financial performance, scheduling, labor, procurement, customer relationships, safety, quality, and project closeout. Unlike a role centered on one major project, this position requires the ability to continuously prioritize resources and customer needs across multiple concurrent projects, respond quickly to changing project conditions, and maintain consistent project performance across the entire portfolio. The Senior Project Manager will work closely with Project Managers, Project Engineers, Superintendents, field leadership, customers, general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to successfully deliver profitable, high-quality mechanical projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and provide senior-level oversight of multiple mechanical projects concurrently from planning through completion and closeout.
  • Balance project priorities, schedules, customer requirements, manpower, procurement, and financial performance across a portfolio of active projects.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, schedules, cost projections, cash flow, billing, collections, and profitability.
  • Track and manage submittals, schedules of values, RFIs, progress billings, change orders, permits, and project documentation.
  • Develop scopes of work and manage purchase orders for subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
  • Coordinate scheduling, engineering requirements, material control, equipment, and field resources.
  • Work closely with Trade Superintendents and field leadership to coordinate manpower and ensure projects have appropriate supervision and resources.
  • Monitor project costs, productivity, forecasts, and profitability and quickly address projects that are trending outside expectations.
  • Prepare accurate monthly and quarterly project projections.
  • Prepare and manage monthly billings following project and customer review.
  • Maintain timely billing, collections, change order processing, and project closeout across multiple active projects.
  • Identify project risks and proactively resolve issues affecting budget, schedule, quality, safety, or customer commitments.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with field trades personnel, customers, general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
  • Maintain frequent and professional communication with customers regarding project status, scheduling, changes, and expectations.
  • Identify additional project opportunities with existing customers and support the development of new customer relationships.
  • Help develop long-term customer relationships that generate repeat mechanical project opportunities.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to Project Managers, Project Engineers, Superintendents, and field personnel.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation across all assigned projects.
Required Experience & Qualifications
  • Minimum 8 years of mechanical project management experience, with increasing levels of responsibility and leadership.
  • Proven experience successfully managing multiple mechanical projects concurrently.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience within the mechanical industry.
  • Strong understanding of commercial HVAC, plumbing, piping, and related mechanical systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly prioritize multiple projects, deadlines, customer needs, and field requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of project controls, budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, procurement, billing, collections, contracts, and change management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage project financial performance and profitability across multiple active projects.
  • Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal requirements, including HVAC/ASHRAE, Plumbing/ASPE, and applicable building codes.
  • Strong understanding of labor planning, material procurement, field coordination, scheduling, and project sequencing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, negotiation, customer service, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build long-term relationships with customers while maintaining financial and operational accountability.
