Job summary

DVM Industries in New York City is seeking a Senior Mechanical Project Manager to own commercial HVAC projects from start to finish, blending hands-on field leadership with strategic oversight and client communication.

You will manage budgets, schedules, RFIs, submittals, and commissioning, act as the technical authority for HVAC, plumbing, piping, air, water, and cooling systems, and ensure safety, quality, and regulatory compliance on every jobsite.

Qualifications

• 7–10+ years of mechanical/HVAC experience.
• Experience leading commercial mechanical projects on site and in office.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, piping, and cooling systems.
• Experience with budgets, schedules, change orders, and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead commercial mechanical projects from estimating handoff to completion.
• Serve as the technical authority for HVAC, plumbing, piping, air, water, and cooling systems.
• Troubleshoot installation and equipment issues with field teams.
• Manage schedules, manpower planning, and material deliveries.
• Own budgets, forecasts, and change orders.
• Manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and docs.
• Coordinate purchasing, specs and lead times for equipment/materials.
• Conduct regular jobsite visits and monitor progress.
• Lead inspections, commissioning, startup, punch lists, closeout.
• Keep clients informed and resolve issues quickly.
• Maintain safety, quality, and regulatory compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead commercial mechanical projects from estimating handoff through completion.

The person

You’ll ideally bring:

• 7-10+ years of mechanical/HVAC industry experience.
• Hands-on field or technician experience before moving into project management.
• Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC and mechanical systems.
• Experience managing budgets, schedules, change orders, and project documentation.
• Confidence solving technical problems onsite with minimal oversight.
• Comfort working equally well in the field and office.
• Project management software and Microsoft Office experience.

Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related degree is preferred but not essential. Strong industry and field experience matters more.

The successful Senior Mechanical Project Manager will be technically credible, commercially aware, organized, and comfortable taking responsibility when decisions need to be made.
