Job summary

HNTB in the California Bay Area seeks a Mechanical Engineer with HVAC, plumbing or fire protection design experience for commercial, institutional and infrastructure facilities. You will lead design efforts from concept to final construction close-out and coordinate development with project teams.

The position requires a PE license, experience with Revit, AutoCAD and BlueBeam, and the ability to mentor staff while managing scope, schedule and budget across complex projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience, or
• Master’s degree in Engineering and 7 years of relevant experience, or
• PhD in Engineering and 6 years of relevant experience

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design on projects from concept to final construction close-out
• Coordinate design development and provide technical direction to project team members
• Completes mechanical designs with minimal direction
• Writes technical reports and creates presentations of findings
• Strong communication of results in presentations and meetings
• Develops scope of work and level of effort and manages adherence to scope and budget on complex projects
• Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team’s work within the technical discipline
• Provides technical guidance and mentoring to team members to achieve project objectives
