Job summary

Dewberry is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer for our New York, NY office with 5+ years of experience in mechanical systems design and analysis. The role focuses on HVAC design for building projects, plus BIM using Revit MEP and related tools.

You will perform energy modeling, load calculations, drawings, and coordination with architects and disciplines. Strong communication, project management, and a NYS PE license are valued assets.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering degree.
• NYS Professional Engineering License.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with MEP projects, especially mechanical and HVAC system design.
• Experience designing mechanical and HVAC systems and producing design documents for buildings in Revit MEP and AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with MS Office programs (WORD, Excel, etc.)
• Good communications skills - Oral and written.
• Experience in running HVAC loads and energy modeling with Trane Trace 3D Software preferred.
• Must be a self-motivated, pro-active professional with drive and determination.
• Valid Driver’s License is required.

Responsibilities

• Strong Project Engineering skills - Manage the design of projects with Mechanical Construction Value(s) up to $10 MM.
• Assigns tasks to and coordinates with entry/staff engineers, technicians or administrative staff.
• Assists in determining technical, schedule and budget (staffing/manhours) requirements.
• Interface and coordinate with architects and other disciplines and working with others as needed on projects.
• Perform basic code reviews.
• Attend meetings, prepare meeting minutes, conduct site visits and field inspections of mechanical and HVAC systems.
• Prepare mechanical and HVAC engineering analysis, calculations, reports, construction drawings and specifications.
• Serve as Project Manager on small projects.
