Job summary

GPTech seeks an experienced Mechanical/Plumbing Engineering Team Lead in the United States to support the U.S. Department of State OBO projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible professional mechanical engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration in the United States.
• Demonstrated experience leading or serving as the senior mechanical engineer on complex building, institutional, government, or mission‑critical infrastructure projects.
• Strong technical experience in HVAC systems, central utility plants, building automation and controls, and plumbing systems.
• Experience coordinating mechanical and plumbing design with other architectural and engineering disciplines.
• Ability to support international assignments and travel as required by individual task orders.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting technical findings and recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform mechanical and plumbing engineering assessments, planning, design, and technical evaluations for new construction, renovations, infrastructure upgrades, and facility modernization projects.
• Develop and review engineering designs, calculations, specifications, drawings, technical reports, and construction documents through design stages.
• Provide technical expertise in HVAC, central utility plants, building automation, domestic water supply, and drainage systems.
• Evaluate existing systems, identify deficiencies, and develop cost-effective rehabilitation, replacement, or modernization solutions.
• Coordinate mechanical and plumbing design with architecture, structural, civil, electrical, fire protection, and other disciplines.
• Lead technical design reviews to ensure compliance with codes, standards, and project requirements.
• Support construction-phase activities including submittal reviews, field inspections, and commissioning.
