Job summary

Sterling Steel Company in Sterling, IL is seeking a Maintenance Planner to develop detailed maintenance plans, coordinate resources, and improve reliability across our rod mill operations.

You will work with operations, maintenance, contracting teams, and vendors to ensure safety, compliance, and on-time execution of outages and major projects. Strong English, field walkdowns, and MS Office skills are required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years working as Mechanic or related position.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic software tools.
• Knowledge of SSC Rod Mill is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed maintenance job plans including scope, labor requirements, estimated durations, tools, parts, equipment, and safety requirements.
• Conduct field walkdowns to verify job scope, identify hazards, confirm accessibility, and determine resource requirements.
• Plan and coordinate maintenance work to minimize downtime and maximize workforce efficiency.
• Coordinate sourcing and procurement of maintenance materials, equipment, and services.
• Define scopes of work and ensure contractors comply with site safety and operational requirements.
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with vendors and service providers.
