Job summary
Sterling Steel Company is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to lead both Electrical and Mechanical maintenance in the Rod Mill environment at our Sterling, IL facility. You will oversee maintenance planning, staffing, and activity execution while driving safety, reliability, and cost goals.
Ideal candidates have strong supervisory background in manufacturing, familiarity with steel mill operations, and robust problem-solving skills.
Qualifications
- Maintenance knowledge in mechanical and electrical systems.
- Strong leadership and teamwork facilitation.
- Willingness to respond to calls 24/7.
- English communication in reading/writing.
- Ability to learn and apply new information.
- Organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Experience with MS Office tools.
- Minimum 3 years supervisory experience in manufacturing.
- Experience in a steel mill, rod mill is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in business/management/manufacturing is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Plan and supervise maintenance activities (Electrical & Mechanical).
- Lead teams during shutdowns and daily operations.
- Assist in budgeting and KPI tracking for maintenance.
- Provide technical input to improve safety and reliability.
- Coordinate with HR and Plant leadership on staffing.
- Mentor maintenance staff and ensure compliance with SSC policies.
