Job summary

TCOM, L.P. in Columbia, MD (HQ) is seeking a Senior Mechanical Packaging Engineer Lead to spearhead a team designing lightweight electrical assemblies for avionics in restricted spaces and EMI conditions.

You will develop packaging concepts, perform structural/thermal analyses, and collaborate with electrical designers to meet manufacturing standards. Occasional travel to NC may be required; Secret clearance is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Minimum of ten years of engineering experience, advanced degree may substitute.
• Ability to produce production-level engineering documentation for manufacturing.
• Support in manufacturing for first article builds.
• Excellent oral, written and presentation skills for interfacing with senior management and customers; mentoring of engineers.
• Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of mechanical engineers in designing lightweight electrical assemblies for space-restricted avionics enclosures.
• Perform structural and thermal analyses and develop packaging concepts and layouts for drawings.
• Collaborate with electrical designers to define mechanical design requirements.
• Ensure designs meet company manufacturing standards and capabilities; lead packaging efforts.
• Estimate design cost, determine manpower requirements; participate in design reviews.
