Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in Livermore, CA, is seeking an experienced R&D S&E Mechanical Engineer to lead environmental control product realization within the Nuclear Deterrence framework. The role involves collaborating with a broad technical staff to push designs from concept to production, ensuring qualification and seamless production handoffs.

The candidate will manage design reviews, documentation, and cross‑disciplinary teamwork while traveling up to 25% and maintaining a DOE Q‑level

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and 5 years of related experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.
• Experience with product realization and mechanical hardware design.

Responsibilities

• Develop designs to production-ready state through design-build-test cycles and collaboration with the production agency.
• Support qualification test and documentation efforts for Environmental Control Product designs.
• Prepare for and present to diverse audiences at technical design reviews and programmatic meetings.
• Develop and release product realization documentation: specs, drawings, and qualification plans.
• Address producibility and inspectability issues with the production agency.
• Partner with Sandia engineers across systems and teams to ensure project success.
• Interface between design and production agencies and support integration activities.
