Job summary

Austal USA, LLC in Mobile, AL seeks an experienced Field Engineer II to support Production by documenting changes and facilitating clear communication between Design Engineering and Production. The role reports to the Chief Department Engineer & Program Engineer, with oversight of Field Engineers I & II.

Requirements include strong written and verbal communication, scheduling discipline, and collaboration with production, customers, and suppliers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in engineering is a benefit.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Understanding of scheduling and strict deadlines.
  • Experience interfacing with production, customers and suppliers.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office products.
  • Knowledge of maritime regulatory authorities (ABS, DNV, USCG, etc.).
  • Experience in high speed aluminum and/or Navy vessel construction is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of modular construction methods is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supporting Production by documenting changes and answering questions.
  • Create deck plate changes and ensure timely, accurate communication between Design Engineering and Production.
