Job summary

Austal USA in Mobile, AL seeks a Field Engineer to support Production by documenting change requests, answering questions, and creating deck plate changes. You will ensure timely and accurate communication between Design Engineering and Production to keep projects on schedule.

The ideal candidate has 7 years of shipyard design/construction or production floor experience, plus a engineering degree is a plus.

Qualifications

• 7 years of shipyard design or construction experience OR 7 years of production floor experience OR minimum of 2 years Austal experience serving as Field Engineer
• Bachelor degree in an engineering discipline is a benefit
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Understanding of scheduling and an ability to adhere to strict deadlines
• Experienced in interacting with Production, all other internal/external customer representatives and equipment manufacturers
• Knowledge of Maritime Regulatory Authorities (i.e. ABS, DNV, GL, HSNC, NVR, USCG, IMO, etc.)
