Job summary

Black & Veatch Corporation is seeking a Senior Mechanical Estimator in Overland Park, KS, to oversee lump sum, unit rate and cost plus estimates. You will coordinate cross‑discipline estimating efforts, contribute to pre‑construction activities, and guide junior staff.

The role requires 10+ years of relevant experience, including estimating, and a BS/MS in Construction Management or related field. Travel and collaboration with engineering, procurement and construction teams are expected.

Qualifications

• BS or MS graduate in Construction Management or related field is preferred.
• Field experience (2+ yrs)
• Project experience (2+ yrs)
• Cost control and scheduling exposure is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepares cost estimates on proposals, projects and studies and ensures the content is complete and accurate.
• Plan, coordinate, review, verify and analyze all aspects of estimates and estimate presentation.
• Direct, train and develop subordinates within the estimating team.
• Maintain the Company estimating database and coordinate with Engineering Operations, Procurement and Construction.
• Provide technical advice to Project Manager in preparation of all levels of estimates.
• Assist in planning and development of formal training programs for estimating staff.
• Identify improvements to estimating procedures to add value.
