Job summary

MKL Careers seeks an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join our Phoenix team. You will develop accurate estimates for commercial mechanical construction, including HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems, and support preconstruction and business development efforts.

You will review plans and specs, perform quantity takeoffs, solicit subcontractor quotes, and identify risks and cost-saving opportunities while coordinating with project teams to deliver competitive bids.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of mechanical estimating experience.
• Strong commercial HVAC/mechanical construction background.
• Experience estimating projects involving HVAC, piping and/or plumbing.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
• Strong understanding of construction means, methods, labor, and material costs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates for commercial mechanical construction projects.
• Review plans, specifications, bid documents, and scope of work.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop labor and material pricing.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotations.
• Identify scope gaps, risks, and potential cost-saving opportunities.
• Work closely with project management, preconstruction, and operations teams.
• Prepare competitive bids and proposals.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings and project turnover.
• Maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and customers.
• Support the business development and preconstruction process as required.
