Job summary

TPD® Workforce Solutions is assisting a client, a commercial mechanical contractor, in finding a Mechanical Estimator who will own larger projects and build lasting relationships with general contractors and design teams.

You’ll shape budgets and solutions from early design through final pricing, supported by a close-knit team that values open communication, fresh ideas, and following through on commitments.

Qualifications

• Commercial mechanical construction knowledge and experience estimating both wet and dry scopes.
• Ability to build a complete estimate from incomplete information, not just from finished drawings.
• Sound judgment about installation methods, labor, scheduling, and coordination with other trades.
• Experience with conceptual budgets, negotiated work, or design assist that contributes early in a project.
• Collaborative approach: seek field input, explain decisions clearly, and take ownership of your work.

Responsibilities

• Build estimates for commercial wet and dry mechanical work, including ductwork, piping, equipment, labor, subcontractors, and project-specific requirements.
• Develop conceptual budgets and refine pricing as designs progress, documenting scope, assumptions, and risks.
• Identify gaps in drawings and work with project managers and field leaders to understand how the work will be built.
• Collaborate with general contractors and design teams on negotiated projects, design assist, and value engineering.
• Manage quotes, addenda, drawing changes, and proposals while keeping the team informed through bid reviews.
