About the PositionThe Senior Mechanical Estimator is responsible for securing profitable work through comprehensive Mechanical estimates and superior customer service, while effectively utilizing and developing his/her team.Position ResponsibilitiesManage estimating processes and timelines to meet company objectives, both short and long termAnalyze bid documents, in conjunction with Business Development, to qualify targeted opportunitiesReceive new project documents and evaluate their contents to conceptually understand the project, including type of building, systems, key scope elements, and major factors for awardDevelop conceptual engineering capabilities, including system selection, layout, and sizingSource, contact, solicit bids from, and distribute support documents to subcontractors and vendorsEstimate interim designs to track and confirm pricingPerform necessary research to produce accurate, complete, and competitive pricingCommunicate with customers to define the project scope, address deficiencies, negotiate pricing, and build relationshipsProvide leadership, direction, and training to assigned estimating team membersPrepare and present completed estimating packages to company executives and senior managementContinuously follow up on all bid projects and accurately forecast future awards/probabilitiesPartner with Operations to properly transfer awarded projects and perform buyouts when necessaryHere’s What We’re Looking ForTen or more years of relevant conceptual Mechanical estimating with a concentration in Multifamily, Highrise, or assisted living estimating experienceProficient in Microsoft Office and estimating software (AutoBid preferred)Ability to multi-task in a high volume, fast-paced work environmentStrong verbal and written communication skillsMust be organized, detail-oriented, and efficientAble to provide a high level of customer serviceDemonstrate and uphold all of Power Design’s core values, which include integrity, accountability, teamwork, innovation, and growthAt Power Design, we are committed to providing an environment of mutual respect where equal employment opportunities are available to all applicants and teammates without regard to race, color, religion, sex, pregnancy, national origin, age, physical and mental disability, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, genetic information, military and veteran status, and any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
