BD, a leading global medical technology company, seeks a Senior Manager of Mechanical Engineering to lead NA Mechanical Engineering within the Pharmacy Automation Hardware Engineering organization. You will drive functional excellence, develop capability, and ensure high-quality outputs across NPD, sustaining engineering, and compliance initiatives.

The role requires strategic leadership to identify capability gaps, implement improvement plans, and align the team with the Hardware Engineering

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• 7 years related mechanical engineering experience.
• 4 years in functional leadership.
• Experience with global teams and external development partners.
• Experience developing and launching a new product.
• Experience in DFSS methodology.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Mechanical Engineering functional authority and champion engineering excellence.
• Standardize and improve tools, processes, and best practices.
• Drive technical rigor through architecture and design reviews and risk assessments.
• Ensure design quality and compliance with quality systems.
• Foster a culture of innovation, accountability and continuous improvement.
• Assess feasibility, plan resources, and track task progress.
• Develop organizational capabilities to support Pharmacy Automation portfolio.
• Identify skill and process gaps; implement improvement initiatives.
• Lead, coach and develop a multi-experience engineering team.
• Drive performance management and career development planning.
• Create competency roadmaps aligned with business needs.
• Foster learning, collaboration, and leadership development.
• Recruit and retain high-performing engineering talent.
• Enhance productivity, efficiency and product quality.
• Establish metrics for functional health and execution.
• Promote data-driven decision making and lessons learned.
• Prioritize and allocate resources with delivery leadership.
• Collaborate with global leaders to align strategy and standards.
• Share resources and best practices across the organization.
• Support the long-term strategic direction of the Hardware Engineering team.
