Job summary

Northrop Grumman seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our Armament Systems unit in Independence, MO, supporting manufacturing operations and transition-to-production of new products. You will work as part of an integrated product team, guiding manufacturing and test activities and interfacing with customers.

The role requires a strong background in mechanical systems, processes, and documentation, with travel up to 25% and US citizenship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline plus 8 years of experience in a design and manufacturing environment; OR Master’s degree in an Engineering discipline plus 6 years of such experience.
• Ability to guide successful completion of significant projects and provide leadership, work direction, mentoring, and coordination of other technical team members.
• Significant experience communicating with customers, program management, and engineering management.

Responsibilities

• Act as the technical interface to internal and external customers and form working relationships with representatives of these organizations
• Support the Program Manager as a control account manager to ensure accurate schedule and cost tracking
• Provide work direction and engineering support to manufacturing and test locations with responsibilities to: resolve complex manufacturing line process issues, research tools, develop processes, and implement test plans
• Coordinate manufacturing efforts between Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, Manufacturing, and Test
• Ensure documentation is in Configuration Management and support engineering reviews
• Domestic travel up to ~25% with potential international travel
