Job summary

Trystar is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer, Design and Thermal Analyses to join the RDE team in Burnsville, MN. You will translate requirements into robust packaging, perform thermal and fluid modelling, and lead cross-functional reviews for power distribution products.

You will design enclosures, coordinate with electrical teams, validate prototypes, and drive manufacturable, high-density cooling solutions across platforms. Hybrid work within multiple sites is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• At least 7 years of hands-on mechanical design experience.
• Hands-on design, packaging, CAD models/drawings, and independent thermal/fluids modelling.
• Physical test correlation and prototype validation expertise.
• Clear documentation and cross-functional communication.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical design from requirements to finished-release packages.
• Develop enclosures and assemblies using sheet metal, plastics, and extrusions.
• Coordinate PCB mounting and electrical packaging with electrical engineers.
• Independently develop and interpret thermal and fluid models.
• Evaluate cooling concepts and translate results into design decisions.
• Lead design reviews and ensure design robustness and safety standards.
• Prepare manufacturing work packages and design documentation.
• Collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing, Sourcing, and suppliers.
• Build reusable platform designs and validated analysis methods.
