Job summary

True North Consultants, Inc. is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer for heavy industrial steel operations. You will support and improve mechanical systems, manage installations, and lead major projects impacting safety, productivity, and uptime.

This hands-on role requires field troubleshooting, development of specifications, and coordination with vendors and contractors to deliver on capital improvements and reliability initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience in steelmaking or heavy industrial environments.
• Experience with melting equipment or furnaces is a strong plus.
• Experience with baghouse or environmental systems is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, improve, and optimize mechanical and hydraulic systems across the facility.
• Lead reliability and continuous improvement initiatives to boost uptime and efficiency.
• Manage melting and steelmaking equipment upgrades, installations, and troubleshooting.
• Provide engineering support for large baghouse and environmental systems to ensure compliance.
• Lead capital and facility improvement projects from concept through installation and commissioning.
• Develop scopes, specifications, bids, cost estimates, and schedules.
• Coordinate with contractors, vendors, maintenance, and operations to progress projects.
• Manage projects to budgets, safety requirements, and performance expectations.
