Job summary

6 Degrees Search is seeking a seasoned Mechanical Engineer to support and improve mechanical systems in a steel/heavy industrial environment. You will work on equipment installations, reliability improvements, and capital projects that impact safety, productivity, and uptime.

The role requires hands-on plant floor troubleshooting and engineering leadership from concept through completion, including managing contracts and coordinating with internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience, preferably in steel/mets heavy industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of industrial mechanical equipment, hydraulics, material handling, and plant systems.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, improve, and optimize mechanical and hydraulic systems throughout the facility.
• Lead reliability and continuous improvement initiatives to increase uptime and efficiency.
• Support and manage melting and steelmaking equipment, including upgrades and installations.
• Provide engineering expertise for large industrial baghouse and environmental systems.
• Lead capital and facility improvement projects from concept through installation and completion.
• Develop detailed project scopes, specifications, bid packages, cost estimates, and schedules.
