Job summary

thyssenkrupp nucera USA Inc. is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Houston, TX, focused on static, rotating, and package equipment for chlorine and related plants. Up to 20% travel for project support and site visits.

Requires ABET‑accredited Mechanical Engineering degree, FE exam or willingness to take it, EIT or certification, and proficiency in AutoCAD and engineering software. Hybrid work schedule; competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited B.S. in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• FE exam passed in Mechanical or willingness to sit exam.
• EIT certification or ability to obtain certification.
• Knowledge of API, ANSI, ASME, ISO codes and standards.
• Experience with equipment design, specification, operation, and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and engineering software for equipment specification.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate in a team.

Responsibilities

• Support design and selection of static, rotating, and package equipment.
• Prepare specs, data sheets, and requisition packages for equipment.
• Evaluate vendor proposals and provide technical procurement recommendations.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate equipment into plant designs.
• Perform engineering calculations and reliability analyses.
• Assist in field activities including installation, commissioning, and maintenance.
• Review vendor drawings for project compliance.
• Participate in HAZOP and design reviews to improve equipment reliability.
